Deerfield Beach, FL - The majority of women will have some degree of injury to or deterioration in her vagina. That can cause self-consciousness or the loss of self-confidence. But Dr. Mark Scheinberg, a Florida specialist performing vaginal reconstruction and labiaplasty, points out those surgical procedures can improve vaginal operation and sensitivity - and may enhance quality of life.

Due to age or childbirth, women may experience sensations of looseness in the vagina or reduction of sensitivity during sex. The area might not experience the same sensations or the muscles might not operate as they did.  Patients might find intercourse painful or live with stress urinary incontinence. "The vaginal rejuvenation procedure transforms the vagina by rectifying the damage, recreating the original contours and tightness, and bringing back the vaginal ridges," explains Scheinberg, a vaginoplasty provider.  His treatment includes site specific defect reconstruction (SSDR), which finds and corrects the exact site of the injury, and vaginal rugae restoration (VRR), which restores the vaginal ridges that provide sexual gratification. These procedures enhance intercourse for both partners.

Labiaplasty is another procedure Scheinberg performs. A lot of women have too large or unappealing labia which influence their self-esteem or which pinch or pull uncomfortably. During labiaplasty, the doctor will sculpt elongated or asymmetrical labia minora (small inner lips) to coincide with the patient's preferences.  He also does a mini-labiaplasty which uses a small area of the original labia to replace the whole oversized labia. The result is petite, symmetrical labia that are nicely shaped. 

"In the past women have had no procedures available to address these issues. But now there are choices. "Right away they begin to feel better about themselves and start experiencing a better quality of life."
